Shea PASHIN
Co-Founder & CEO
Hi y’all! I’m Shea Pashin, founder of Roots and Reins, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country—a serene place that’s been in my family for decades.
After spending ten years in social services supporting women and children who had experienced trauma in shelters throughout Austin, I began to notice something essential was missing: an opportunity for deeper healing, connection, and growth beyond traditional care settings.
That realization led me to start bringing children to Montesino Ranch, the sanctuary where I was lucky enough to spend my entire childhood. Watching the kids interact with the horses, explore the trails, and simply breathe in the peace of this place, I saw something shift—their resilience, confidence, and patience began to bloom. Roots and Reins was born from that vision.
Our programs are grounded in science—specifically, the Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP) method. Learning Natural Lifemanship provided the clinical framework I’d been searching for. It confirmed my deep belief that healing happens in relationship—with self, with others, and with the natural world.
This work is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, and I’m honored to walk alongside these individuals as they heal, grow, and discover their strength.
Hannah Parker
Co-Founder & COO
Hi friends, we’re so glad you’re here– I’m Hannah, a Texas native guided by the belief that every child deserves to be supported, protected, and cherished. My ultimate dream is for every child to meet life with the fearlessness & sovereignty that is their birthright.
My journey to Roots & Reins is one of convergence. My career at Google working with startups taught me how to scale programs and operational rigor, while my Biology degree from UT provided a comprehensive understanding of the body and nervous system. This scientific grounding, paired with a deep interest in holistic health & Eastern traditions, informs my conviction to somatic modalities as the most powerful vehicles of personal transformation. This came into even sharper focus when Shea and I discovered the Natural Lifemanship Method, an approach that is grounded in neurobiology and attachment theory. We recognized immediately that healing begins in the uninterrupted presence of one’s own body, and that the horse offers the perfect co-regulator.
For over a decade, I’ve worked with and witnessed the innate capacity for resilience in children of all ages. Roots & Reins is a culmination of everything I believe in, and I’m truly honored to be a part of this work.
